Government and Long-Term Care In January of 2006, the Government has launched a Long Term Care Awareness Campaign called "Own Your Future". This campaign is to raise awareness to consumers about planning for Long-Term Care. Since today people are not thinking about their long-term care needs, this campaign will hopefully make the public more aware of their potential need for long-term care. Currently there are 5 states that are participating in this campaign; AR, ID, KS, MD, NV, RI, and VA. Residents of these states ages 50-70 will receive a letter from the Governor along with a brochure offering a Planning Kit. the year 2001 Congress created the Federal Long-Term Care Insurance
program through the Federal Long-Term Care Security Act of 2000. This
program is available to most federal employees and their families at
their own cost. It is said to be the largest employer-sponsored long-term
care insurance program in the country. It is the governments intention
to assist federal employees in obtaining protection from the high costs
of long-term care services. Source: |
